CSLaw Attorneys Prevail on Summary Judgment in Contract Litigation

March 19, 2023

Ruben E. Socarras, managing partner of Chane Socarras, PLLC (“CSLaw”) and CSLaw associate, Jafar Abuyounis, recently obtained final summary judgment in favor of one of their affiliate marketing clients, ending contentious litigation that has been pending for over three years in Miami, Florida.

The Court heard competing summary judgment motions and ruled in favor of CSLaw’s clients as to all damages sought under its contractual claims, resulting in an award of over $320,000.00, including their attorneys’ fees, costs and prejudgment interest. The case involved various claims brought by CSLaw’s clients for affiliate marketing services provided under a written contract and its damages for the company’s unpaid invoices. In addition to asserting various defenses, the defendants countersued and brought third party claims that alleged breach of contract, breach of the implied duty of good faith and fair dealing, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and spoliation, among other claims and defenses. The outcome in favor of CSLaw’s clients eliminates the need for a trial, which was set to take place in August 2023.
